Privacy policy
1. Who we are
This policy explains what personal information Parallel 45 Labs Inc. ("we", "us") collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website and our apps: Swipe Switcher and LinkPaster for Jira.
We are a company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
2. Words we use
- Personal information: any information that can identify a person, alone or combined with other information.
- Website: parallel45labs.com and its pages.
- Apps: the software we publish, listed in section 1.
- You: a person who visits the website or uses an app.
3. What we collect
3.1 The website
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It counts page views, the page that sent you here, your country, and your browser type. It does not set cookies and does not follow you to other websites.
Our host, Cloudflare, receives your IP address when your browser asks for a page. Cloudflare uses it to send you the page and to block attacks. We do not keep a record of IP addresses ourselves.
3.2 Swipe Switcher
Swipe Switcher collects nothing about how you use it. Its only network request is the check for updates. That request goes to our server and, like any web request, carries your IP address and the app's version number. It sends no system profile.
3.3 LinkPaster for Jira
LinkPaster for Jira sends your links to Atlassian's API, using your Atlassian email and the API token you give it, to look up issue and page titles. These requests go straight from your Mac to Atlassian. We never receive your links, your issue data, your email, or your token.
Your token stays in your Mac's Keychain. The app also checks our server for updates, the same way Swipe Switcher does.
3.4 Email
If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. We use them to reply.
4. How we use it
- To deliver the website and app updates.
- To see how many people visit the website and which pages they read.
- To answer your questions and support requests.
- To keep the website and our servers secure.
We do not sell personal information. We do not use it for advertising.
5. Cookies
The website sets no cookies that need your consent, so it shows no cookie banner.
6. How long we keep it
We keep emails for as long as we need them to help you, and for as long as the law requires. Visit counts are totals, not records about a person.
7. Where it is processed
Cloudflare serves the website and the app updates from data centres around the world, including outside Canada. Laws in those places can differ from Canadian law.
8. When we share it
- Service providers: Cloudflare hosts the website and app updates. It may use your information only to provide that service.
- The law: we may disclose personal information when the law requires it, or to answer a valid request from a court or government agency.
- A sale of the company: if the company is sold or merged, personal information may transfer to the new owner. We will post a notice here before that happens.
9. Security
We protect personal information with reasonable measures. No method of sending or storing data is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee it.
10. Children
Our website and apps are not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Your rights
Under PIPEDA, and no matter where you live, you can ask us to:
- Give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct it if it is wrong or incomplete.
- Delete it, unless the law requires us to keep it.
- Stop using it, where you gave your consent.
We reply within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
12. Links to other websites
Our pages link to websites we do not run. Their own privacy policies apply there.
13. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we post the new version on this page and update the date at the top.
